About This Course:
Investigating and responding to charges of discrimination, harassment, and retaliation.Designed for employer representatives who are responsible for managing fair employment compliance, this "online classroom" and self-paced course provides practical guidance on how to investigate and respond to a charge of unlawful harassment, discrimination, or retaliation filed with the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) or a state or local fair employment practices agency.
About This CourseThis is a 3-week course. Through a combination of self-paced online modules, weekly web sessions, video clips, and online discussion forums, this program focuses on practical and proven steps for managing all phases of the charge investigation process, from initial receipt and response through final resolution or referral of the case to litigation.
An orientation workshop at the start of the course introduces participants to the learning platform, addresses how to use it, establishes a timeline for completion of modules and activities, and encourages participants to collaborate with one another.
Thereafter, an experienced facilitator moderates the 3-week course, which allows participants to work at their own pace for segments of the course using CWC's learning system. Weekly self-paced assignments usually include two modules and learning activities. The moderator and participants meet via Web Workshops once a week during the course to review core ideas, discuss additional information, and participate in activities to reinforce key skills.
What You'll Learn:At the end of this course, you will be able to:
- Describe the EEOC's charge handling and investigation procedures

- Plan and conduct effective internal investigations
- Draft factual and persuasive position statements
- Differentiate between disparate treatment and disparate impact
- Manage onsite investigations and interviews
